Audiences were looking for a little of everything this holiday weekend. Several films had strong showings in their opening weeks.
The winner was “Little Fockers” with $34 million over the weekend. The latest in the “Meet the Parents” franchise follows the lead of other entries in the series and opened at number one.
Following it was the remake of “True Grit” with $25.6 million. (Seriously folks, rent the original with John Wayne in his Oscar-winning role…please! It’s not the best movie Wayne ever did, but it’s still damn good)
Third place went to last week’s top film, “Tron: Legacy.” The movie took in $20.1 million and has made $88 million since it opened last week. The movie will have to have a solid run to make back its money for Disney.
After that, it was a sharp drop to fourth, held by “Voyage of the Dawn Treader.” The latest “Narnia” film took in $10.8 million.
The new version of “Gulliver’s Travels” with Jack Black in the lead opened in seventh.

It’s a travesty that Little Fockers beat out True Grit, easily one of the best movies of the year, right up there with Inception and Black Swan. YMMV

Amazes me the crap people go see at the movies. At least “True Grit” did well though.

Oh….there’s a God and It has one sick sense of humor…just look at the platypus, or The Jersey Shore.
