Ford Wants Indy to Die in Next Movie

December 21, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 6 Comments

If it’s up to Harrison Ford, one of his iconic characters will shuffle off this mortal coil should a fifth “Indiana Jones” movie happen.

Harrison thinks it would be good for Indy to die and pass on his hat to his son in the next one,” says actor Shia LeBeouf. “George especially is resisting the notion but Steven is considering it.”

It wouldn’t be the first time that Ford has wanted a character he plays to pass away in a George Lucas scripted film. Fans may recall that Ford lobbied for Han Solo to die in “Return of the Jedi” but that didn’t happen.

Commence obligatory fanboy complaining about “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” in 5… 4… 3… 2… 1…

Well, if they wait any longer to get the next one going, and the age that showed on his face during the last film, Ford could well fulfill his wish — literally, on the set of the 5th Indy film. I’m old and Harrison is 7 years beyond me (he’s pushing 70).

I think they should go back to the 30’s or 40’s and replace Ford with a younger actor. Do NOT reboot the series. Just make new stories and “James Bond” the role of Indy. I was thinking that someone Brendan Fraser would probably handle the role well.

I really like that idea, its just not the same when Indiana Jones isn’t fighting Nazi’s.

Yes on Indy dying. No on replacing him with Mr.Vowels. No one can replace Indy.
