Now that “Family Guy” is done satirizing the original “Star Wars” trilogy, creator Seth McFarlane says that another space saga could be next.
McFarlane tells TV Squad he is considering working on spoofs of the “Star Trek” franchise films.
However, he’s quick to point out that the special spoof episodes are very taxing for the show’s creative team.
“These [episodes] are very tiring to do. It’s like doing a movie at the same time you’re doing a TV series. Particularly with animation, that’s a lot of work. We’d like to take a break [before making any more parodies],” he says.
McFarlane goes on to praise LucasFilm for allowing the series to spoof the original trilogy.
“Doing these movies wasn’t something we had planned to do until we started dealing with Lucasfilm,” he explained. “We found them to be enthusiastic and accommodating. We thought, ‘Well, if they’re this cool, let’s see if they’d mind if we just did the whole movie.’ They were totally game.”
The “Return of the Jedi” spoof hits DVD and Blu-Ray today.
