Rumor: “Glee” Star Up for Lead Role in “Buffy”

Rumor: “Glee” Star Up for Lead Role in “Buffy”

December 14, 2010 By Michael Hickerson 6 Comments

morris_heahterWho could the next Buffy Summers be?

If you believe a rumor floating around, actress Heather Morris could be the next Slayer.

An unidentified source at the Sandollar Production Company says that Morris, who stars on Fox’s “Glee” is at the top of the list of potential candidates for the role.

And because the new Buffy will take place after high school, Morris could be the right age to play the character.

In this new reboot, Buffy will no longer be in high school, but instead facing the same hardships that a lot of young college graduates have today in struggling to find a paying job and a healthy relationship.

Ugh – she’s kind of cute and a pretty hot dancer. Terrible actor. Bad choice!

I love Heather on Glee, and I love BtVS. I’d be happy to see her play a Slayer not named Buffy…

I get why the producers want the name recognition of Buffy, but I know that a lot of fans won’t even consider giving the reboot a chance as it seems to be planned at the moment. Personally, I’d be more open to it if they created a new Slayer character in the Buffyverse rather than insisting that she be Buffy.

Very low expectations for the movie. The show was a bit silly in premise but turned out to have great writing and a cast that grew into a fine ensemble. The movie will only have the silly premise and the name. Not enough. Heather Morris is a one-trick pony that I really like in Glee, but I doubt has the acting chops to pull it off.

Sounds like they’re gonna mix seasons 4 & 5 together to make a movie.
