“Avatar” is out on Blu-Ray today in a 3-D edition.
However, don’t rush out to your local store to buy one. Unless you plan on dropping a good amount for Panasonic’s 3-D TV.
That’s because James Cameron signed a deal with Panasonic to distribute the movie on 3-D Blu-Ray as part of a package deal. And that deal doesn’t expire until 2012.
You can buy a started package from Panasonic that includes the 3-D version for $400. Or you can try to pick up a copy on e-Bay.

Meh. I keep hoping 3D will die a quick death.
Even so, this is rather nasty of both Cameron and Panasonic, well mostly Cameron.

Even though we see in 3d we don’t really notice the depth the way it has to be exaggerated in films and TV. It is a gimmick to sell expensive tech.
Oh yah, and it gives me a headache….
