“Fables” TV Show in Doubt

“Fables” TV Show in Doubt

December 8, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

Fables53A couple of weeks ago, we brought you a story about a pilot that sounded a bit like the proposed television version of “Fables.”

At the time, we wondered if it might be the long-rumored and in development adaptation of the popular comic book series.

Apparently not.

Speaking to io9, “Fable” creator Bill Willingham says the adaptation is in doubt and is “probably dead.”

“I understand that the new DC regime was very much interested in getting Fables going [as a television series],” he said. “The TV show that was prematurely announced is probably dead.

“Don’t hold me to that, because I don’t know. Hopefully, I’ll know before it airs, but I’m kind of out of the loop.”

The comic series is still going strong. It celebrates 100 issues this month.

If people think ‘The Walking Dead’ was awesome, they’d have flipped a gasket at how dope this series is. Too bad, I was actually looking MORE forward to this series than The Walking Dead.

Even if they stuck with the more ‘human’ aspects of this series, it would have been incredible.

This makes me sad. I found the Fables books at my local library and fell in love with them more than any literature I’ve read. I was looking forward to this show, if only as a way to share the story with friends that don’t read as much as I do. Alas. Is okay, they probably would have butchered it anyways.
