Another Spider-Man Villain Cast

Another Spider-Man Villain Cast

December 6, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 5 Comments

proto-goblin-cvAt this point, Spider-Man fans may wonder if we’re ever really going to see the Lizard on the big-screen.

While rumors persist that actor Rhys Ifans has been cast as Curt Connors aka the Lizard for the upcoming reboot, news broke today that another villain is coming to tangle with Spider-Man. Actor Irrfan Khan will be a second villain for the upcoming reboot. He’s been cast as Van Atter.

If you’re not a hard core Spidey fan, that name may leave you scratching your head.

Luckily MTV’s Splash Page has done some research and found that the character appeared one time in “Peter Parker: Spider-Man” #1. The issue was a flashback and featured a character called the Proto-Goblin. Basically, it was a test run for Norman Osborn as the Green Goblin.

So, this means that movie franchise could be reviving Osborn and the Green Goblin, possibly for a second installment.

We’ll keep our eyes and ears open for more details as they happen.

Grr, why even do a re-boot? 3 was a mess, but you can’t put all of that on Raimi and crew, and frankly it wasn’t all bad! He totally could’ve redeemed himself with 4, I’m certain he could! >:-(

I don’t understand why every superhero movie seems to need two villains.

No kidding, Barry. I mean, Superman II did okay with FOUR villains. Okay, so Zod stole the show, but… 😉

Barry, I can think of several reasons for multiple villains

    A) It lets you show how smart the hero is by getting one to betray the other

    B) Villains tend to be more interesting. Take the villain from Dark Knight. He got more press than the hero. Having an extra villain, Hollywood thinks the movie will be more interesting

    C) It stacks the odds against the hero making the victory sweeter
