With news that director Darren Aronofsky is bringing the next Wolverine movie to the big-screen, many assume that director has lost interest in the reboot of “RoboCop.”
Maybe not.
Aaronofsky tells Playlist that the reboot may still happen someday.
The project was being developed by MGM but fell on hard times when the stuiod fell on hard times. MGM’s financial problems led to delays with “The Hobbit” and the next Bond installment, so it’s not shocking that “RoboCop” was also delayed.
“It’s MGM, and hopefully they’ll clear their stuff up, and I’m still interested. David Self wrote a great script, but the company went under, so … ” the director says.
His next task is “The Wolverine” followed by “Machine Man.” That means that in two years, the director could have an opening on his schedule and hopefully MGM might have all their financial woes worked out. So, could we still see a “RoboCop” reboot?
It’s possible.
