The boy wizard and Disney’s new animated movie battled for box-office supremacy over the weekend. And according to the preliminary results, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” hung on for the win.
“Hallows” took in $50.3 million in its second weekend, good enough for the top spot. That brings the ten day total for the first half of the final Potter film to just over $220 million.
In a close second was Disney’s new “Tangled” with $49.1 million. The film has grossed $69 million since its release Wednesday.
Third place went to another animated feature, “Megamind.” Fourth place was held by newcomer “Burlesque” while fifth place went to “Unstoppable.”
Final figures will be released later this week.

Saw Tangled this weekend…one of the best Disney animated movies I’ve seen in a long time.

My daughter and 2 nieces LOVED ‘Tangled”… not the best Disney movie, but definitely above par. Very nice story and very VERY good animation.
