Emmy-nominated actor Denis Leary is joining the cast of the Spider-Man reboot.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Leary will play Captain George Stacy, the father of Gwen Stacy. In the comics, George Stacy figured out the link between Peter Parker and Spider-Man, revealing that he knew before he died. He died in the aftermath of a battle between Spidey and Doc Ock. His death led to a lot of angst between Peter and Gwen over Spidey’s connection to the death of her father.
No word yet on if the movie will follow the same storyline or incorporate parts of it.
The script for the film is being kept under lock and key.
In the Sam Raimi trilogy, George Stacy was played by actor James Cromwell.

Adding Leary just made the idea of another Spidey interesting to me.
Nothing against Dennis Leary; he’s very talented performer, I just feel very Meh to the whole idea of a Spider-Man reboot.
