New Muppet Movie Will Have Lots of Cameos

November 16, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 1 Comment

muppetsFans of the original “Muppet Movie” know the film is full of cameos from some of the biggest and most popular stars of its time.  And it appears the new Muppet Movie will follow that tradition with a wide variety of cameo appearances.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Alan Arkin, Jack Black, Billy Crystal, Zach Galifianakis and Jean-Claude Van Damme are being pursued to cameo in the film. The trade magazine goes on to say that it’s not getting the actors to say yes to be in the film that’s the issue–it’s finding the right timing in their schedules to be part of the film.

The new movie stars Jason Segel, who wrote the script with Nicholas Stoller, as the human lead who helps those wacky Muppets reunite to put on a show in order to save a movie studio.

Amy Adams, Chris Cooper and Rashida Jones are among the human actors in key roles.

Arkin is a tour guide while Black will play a kidnap victim. Galifianakis plays a hobo. Details for others were not divulged.

Actress Jane Lynch was rumored to be part of the new movie, but she has denied her involvement with the film.

Muppets needs to go back to its roots and rediscover what made them funny and endearing in the first place. Looks like they’ve done that!

Who knew Billy Crystal was still alive.
