Get Your Own Set of 3-D Glasses

Get Your Own Set of 3-D Glasses

November 9, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

Tired of using recycled 3-D glasses at your local theater?

How about buying your own pair?

If you’re interested and have $120 to spend, you can buy your own set of the glasses from Oakley, reports TG Daily.

The company has come out with a set of “optically correct” glasses that will work with the current crop of 3D films. The glasses only work the digital 3D used in theaters and couldn’t be used with 3D television sets. The company also recommends they only be used to view 3D and that they won’t serve as corrective lenses for other issues with your eyes.

“We began with a single goal: to set the standard for optical performance in 3D. No one has ever engineered optically correct 3D glasses,” said Oakley CEO Colin Baden in a statement. He called today’s release a “landmark moment in 3D entertainment.”

Oakley tested the glasses in DreamWorks’ 3D lab, and worked closely with content providers to make sure they worked flawlessly.

And if you want to spend $30 more, you can get some with a “Tron” theme.

That is why 3D will continue to be a fail. Everyone’s eyes are different! If you wear glasses you have to sit with two pairs on your face. Far from an enjoyable experience!

I know that supposedly, “No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public,” but seriously who is going to be stupid enough to buy these things?
