If you’re a “Caprica” fan and you don’t want to wait to see the final five episodes of the series, we have good news.
No, we’re not encouraging you to find them via alternative means (though the series is still airing in Canada).
We will say that the second set of DVDs, “Caprica Season 1.5” is still scheduled to come out on December. TV Shows on DVD contacted Universal Studios to verify the date was still good and all reports show the set will hit stores that day.
That means you’ll get five new episodes that haven’t aired on SyFy yet.
We’ll keep our eyes open for more details and let you know if the release date gets moved back.

Thank you Mr. Hickerson, you frakkin rock. OH CANADA!!! LOL

NBC Universal really expects me to PAY extra for a Blu-ray on a show they didn’t have enough confidence in to even give a second season? “Damn them, damn them all to hell!” – (Breaks out the credit card on Amazon.)
Kim says
Obviously the reason they pull shows that have been canceled before you get to see the last few episodes is to get us to shell out money…duh! Makes me sick! And NO…I won’t pay for them. I’ll find them somehow, but will not give NBC Universal one damn dime!
Blind Freddie says
Why not put the episodes up on the web, NOW, on their site, if they’re going to be like that. It’s not as if people in Canada are going to be worried by Syfy being snarky-best laid plans, huh? What about Space doing it, if Syfy won’t and make it available to the rest of the world, just to rub it in a little!

No, it’s a money losing proposition to keep running shows with a declining audience each week and it can threaten to hurt ratings of remaining shows. DVD’s of an entire season of a TV show are a fairly recent phenomena and are a secondary consideration of TV executives.
I think the idea of putting the final five episodes on the web is a good idea. I don’t thinks the decision makers at SyFy; or any other network for that matter, realize the benefit of creating good will with the hard core fans of a failing TV show; who are after all potential fans of the next show the network will offer. They should be thinking in terms of creating a supportive community for their network, rather than the current top down model of television production management that currently exists.
It would also help to market DVD’s of the show; but like I said earlier, the networks aren’t thinking about DVD sales.
Tim the Avatarless says
More power to the fans for trying to get Caprica renewed.
Jerico was saved for a while, perhaps Caprica can be saved too.
Summer Brooks says
Okay, maybe my count is off… will this 1.5 set contain 9 episodes, or 10? What are the chances of bonus materials?
I guess I’m wondering how much the DVD will cost, and what their thinking on price point for it is.
