“Terra Nova” Fires Writing Staff

“Terra Nova” Fires Writing Staff

November 4, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 6 Comments

terra-nova-2-8-10-kcThe Stephen Spielberg produced “Terra Nova” is having a rough time making it to broadcast.

The series has been pushed back multiple times by Fox and now they’ve fired the entire writing staff.

The L.A. Times reports that the move was made because of the long delay before production ramps up. Fox decided to show a preview episode next spring and delay the show’s roll out until the fall 2011 season. This move is similar to how the network rolled out “Glee.”

Rather than have the writers sitting around with nothing to do on payroll, 20th Century Fox terminated all those writers the studio didn’t have under contract.

“These are expensive writers,” one insider said.

The studio will either look to rehire the writers next year when production begins or find new writers to take their place.

One person not fired was show runner Brannon Braga. He’s still in charge of the writer’s room–when they get back to work.

What is this show about anyway?

I’m starting to wonder if they only way to get decent sci-fi is to go to podcasts and other fan-made material.

considering that fox have a reputation for cancelling the best shows soonest they must have had some brilliant scripts to be eliminated so soon! 🙂

Looks like Brannon Braga saw a few episode of the BBC’s “Primeval” and pitched it to Spielberg as his own “re-imaged” version of it.
