New Batman Title Announced

October 27, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 3 Comments

Curious to know what Christopher Nolan has next up his sleeve for the Dark Knight?

So are we.

And after months of speculation, Nolan is finally offering a few hints of what’s to come. In an interview with Hero Complex, the director says that the title for the next installment will be “The Dark Knight Rises.”

Nolan also took one of Batman’s rogue’s gallery off the table for the next film. We won’t see the Riddler in the next movie Nolan says.

That statement, coupled with news that a casting call for a new female role in the film, leads many to speculate that the next film could see Catwoman. But Nolan will neither confirm or deny that news.

What he will say is that the film will be entirely filmed using IMAX technology and that he has no interest in making it 3-D.

And what will be see in the next movie?

“We’ll use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we’ll be introducing some new ones,” Nolan tells Hero Complex. And while the director is playing his cards close to the vest on the sequel, he also eliminated Mr. Freeze from the potential villains for the next movie.

I was kind of hoping for Anthony Michael Hall as the Riddler. Oh well. Nice title choice, though.

Well if they’re going with a third one, I sure hope somebody gives poor Christian Bale a throat lozenge.
