The weekend before Halloween saw audiences looking for something scary. And “Paranormal Activity 2” reaped the rewards, taking in $41 million at the box-office and finishing as the top box-office draw.
The ticket sales were $10 million than Hollywood box-office experts predicted. The sequel, which was produced quickly after last year’s original quickly scared up over $100 million, got only $3 million to produce and has already become a huge hit for Paramount. (Odds are we’ll see a third “Activity” at some point in our future).
In second was “Jack-Ass 3D,” taking in another $21.6 million and earning the film $87.1 million in its first ten days of release.
Third place went to “Red” with $15 million while fourth went to newcomer “Hereafter.” The Clint Eastwood directed film took in $12 million. Rounding out the top five was “The Social Network.”
