The combination of insane stunts and 3-D was box-office gold over the weekend as “Jack-Ass 3-D” took in $50.0 million and secured the top spot at the box office. Even more impressive was that the opening was a fall and October record. (Given how much of the film was previewed on-line, it’s hard to believe there was anything left as a surprise once audiences got to theaters…)
In second was the opening of the comic-book adaptation of “Red.” Featuring an all-star cast that includes Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, Bruce Willis and John Malkovich, the film took in $22.5 million.
Falling to third in its third week with David Fincher’s “The Social Network.” With $11 million in ticket sales, the film has now surpassed $60 million at the box-office.
Fourth place went to “Secretariat” with $9.5 million and fifth went to “Life As We Know It.”
