Noble Teases Season Three of “Fringe”

September 16, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 4 Comments

If you haven’t seen the second season finale of “Fringe,” the two-part episode airs tonight on Fox.

All that is getting us ready for next Thursday when the show returns.

Now John Noble, who plays Walter Bishop, is teasing some things to come. There are SPOILERS for season two if you’ve not seen it and minor SPOILERs for season three ahead. If you don’t want to know, turn back…

Last season, we saw Peter and Olivia taking steps toward a possible romantic relationship. But now that our Olivia is trapped in the alternate universe and their Olivia has crossed over, will that help or hinder things there?

It appears it may get complicated quickly. Noble teases that the alternate Walter will pull strings to get his universe’s Olivia and Peter involved.

“[Walternate] has to ensure that [Peter] continues to work on our side,” he tells Entertainment Weekly. “He’ll do that through alt-Olivia.”

Noble added: “She seduces him. Did I just say that? Did I just drop a big teaser?”

Joshua Jackson previously suggested that his character and alt-Olivia will share an “animal instinct”.

For the first few episodes of the year, episodes will alternate between universes the producers say. We’ll be able to tell which one by the opening credits–those in our universe will have the blue tinged credits while those taking place on the other side will have a red-tinge to them.

“Fringe” returns next Thursday.

I’m not sure how I feel about alternating episodes – Olivia is a likeable, complex character and all, but it’s going to be hard not having Peter and our Walter around. They’re the ones that draw me to the show.

(As a side note, I would have had a similar concern about season 3 of Sarah connor chronicles if it had ever happened…)

Best show on TV. Hands down. This can only mean one thing. Fox will be on the verge of canceling it for “High Competition Hopscotch with B-Actors and 80’s Celebs” by mid-season.

Innnteresting. Despite my aversion to Peter/Olivia, I’m really looking forward to seeing how the multi-dimensional storyline plays out.

I’m a bit concerned about the alternating episodes between universes. One of the things that I love about Fringe is Walter Bishop. Not the “Walternate,” but Walter Bishop himself. His quirky behavior makes each episode highly enjoyable, while Walternate is just too focused and dark for my liking.
