Only a few more weeks until the return of “The Big Bang Theory” and we’ve got news on some great guest casting.
“Star Trek” alum George Takei will have a guest role on the upcoming season. And he’ll cameo in an episode that features the return of Katie Sackoff.
The show’s executive producer Bill Prady suggested that Takei and Sackhoff will play different sides of Wolowitz’s conscience as he considers reuniting with his ex-girlfriend Bernadette (Melissa Rauchberg).
He explained: “George Takei plays himself, and he’s the other person guiding Wolowitz in his thoughts as he tries to figure out what to do about Bernadette.”
Prady also revealed that Takei and Wolowitz “discuss being typecast in science-fiction shows”.
However, Prady added that he does not want to include too much stunt casting, saying: “[We want actors] that mean something to these guys.
“[Stunt casting means] you’re not watching the show – you’re watching Madonna or Britney Spears. You’re watching something that’s meta. What we often do is have people from the sci-fi or technology world, often playing themselves.”
