Following the tradition of “Battlestar Galactica,” the spin-off series will see its seasons released in two halves on DVD and Blu-Ray.
The first half season one of “Caprica” aired earlier this year on SyFy and the second half of the season won’t air until 2011. That’s a lot of time to forget what was happening or where the story left off.
The DVD and Blu-Ray sets will hit stores on October 5, allowing fans to catch-up on the series and allowing new comers to see what they’ve missed.
Here’s the details of the release from Universal:

“Totally Worthy of Its ‘Battlestar Galactica‘ Roots” – TV Guide, Damian Holbrook
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Aug. 11 – Part sweeping soap, part mediation on the dangerous moral ramifications of artificial intelligence, the “Battlestar Galactica” phenomenon continues with this undeniably compelling look at where the real conflict between humans and the Cylons began…in a vibrant world remarkably like our own, “Caprica.” From executive producers Ronald D. Moore and David Eick, “Caprica” Season 1.0 stars Golden Globe-nominee Eric Stoltz (Pulp Fiction), Esai Morales (“NYPD Blue”), Paula Malcomson (“Deadwood”), Alessandra Toressani (“Happy Campers”), Magda Apanowicz (“Kyle XY”), Sasha Roiz (“In Plain Sight”), Brian Markinson (“The L Word”) and Polly Walker (Clash of the Titans).
Hailed by critics as “beautifully shot and marvelously acted” (Mary McNamara, Los Angeles Times), “Caprica” Season 1.0 debuts on DVD on October 5, 2010 as a four-disc set and features Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. Taking place fifty-eight years before Battlestar Galactica begins, “Caprica” Season 1.0 focuses on two powerful families – the Graystones and the Adamas – who find their destinies irrevocably intertwined after a devastating explosion. As the two houses struggle with the line where humanity ends and artificial intelligence – the Cylon race – begins, they will face off on a battlefield of corporate conspiracy, murder, sexual politics and family betrayal. The DVD features nine hours of extras, including 48 deleted scenes, commentaries, podcasts and both the unrated, extended and unaired pilot episode and the original televised version.

I find myself increasingly challenged to give an aeronautical intercourse about the show. There should be a rule somewhere that states that you can’t break up the first season of a show with almost a full-year gap in the middle.
Michael Natale says
SyFy needs all that time to put out more Mansquito movies
Lejon from Chandler says
OK, so, how long between the first and second halves of a season does it have to be before you count it as “Seasons 1 & 2”? This Season 1.5 Business Standard is getting really old.
Gazerbeam says
That’s why I still maintain that BSG had six seasons 🙂
