And now for a little 3-D rage…
The Lord of the Jungle could be headed back to the silver screen in a new animated 3-D feature.
German studio Constantin Film has acquired the rights to make a new animated Tarzan movie, according to Variety. According to reports, the studio has purchased the rights to the original Edgar Rice Burroughs works, so if the 3-D film proves to be a hit, there’s a lot of material for sequels.
The movie will be produced by Robert Kulzer and Reinhard Kloss. Variety reports that Paul W.S. Anderson could be brought in to direct the movie.
Tarzan is no stranger to the silver screen. Johnny Weismuller starred in a series of MGM films in the 1930s; and in 1999, Disney’s animated take on the character grossed over $448 million worldwide. Warner Bros. and producer Jerry Weintraub have been trying to get a live-action Tarzan made since 2003.
