“True Blood” Panel Offers Hints for Season Three

July 27, 2010 By Mike Hickerson Leave a Comment

Earlier today, we brought you a preview for the rest of the third season of “True Blood.” The preview was shown during the series’ Comic Con panel and offered hints on where the season is headed.

But that wasn’t all we learned about the series and where things are headed in season three at the panel.

Producer Alan Ball said that while some fans may want to know about Franklin and why he’s a “bit off,” they shouldn’t expect any answers any time soon. “He does care [about Tara] in his own twisted way. Unfortunately, he is also a psychopath,” Ball said.

As for Tara and her taste in men, Ball and actress Rutina Wesley said things won’t get easier for the character as the season goes along.

Wesley began singing “looking for love in the all the wrong places,” before explaining. “When Tara gets close to loving someone, she immediately runs away… She’s unstable right now but I’m hoping for stability in the future.”

Ball added, “There will be a brief break for her at the end of the season, but it won’t last.”

The cast was also asked about how they dealt with the amount of nudity the series required.

Joe Manganiello (Alcide) said there are a few options: “Sock with a draw string, a plastic-backed thong, which apparently breaks if you’re running fast, or the man panty, or manty, which reduces you to a Ken doll.”

Actress Anna Panquin chimed in and said that it was easier to perform the violent scenes over the nude ones because you can “fake the violence.” She added that she prefers to get her nude scenes out of the way early in the day and work on the more violent ones later in the day.

“That way you’re not all messy for lunch,” she quipped.

“True Blood” continues its third season Sundays on HBO.
