“Tron: Legacy” Comic Con Trailer

July 26, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 4 Comments

A lot of movies were looking to make a splash at Comic Con, offering fans big news on casting, first looks at footage and new trailers.

One of those was “Tron: Legacy” which debuted a new trailer. Yahoo! Movies has the trailer and you can see it HERE.

After you view it, let us know what you thought about it in the comments section. Does the new footage make you more anxious to see it? Less anxious? How to you feel about the new trailer in light of the reports last week that Disney has asked Pixar to step in for some story work on the film?

The first TRON worked due to the combination of story, interesting graphics and music. It was different, original and has stood the test of time.

TRON Legacy feels jaded, far too postmodern for its own good. Turning TRON into Mad Max vs Speed Racer is not a step forward. If it’s another iteration of the FX heavy, corporations are bad movie trope then it is a wasted opportunity.

Here’s hoping that it will be better than I suspect. It’s going to have be as impressive as Avatar (Technology) or Inception (Story) for me to want to see it in 3D.

I have a different take on the 3-D. For me, this is one of the few movies I would go see in 3D even if the story/graphics weren’t fantastic, because 3D fits the concept. Technology was a huge part of Tron, and having a new(ish) technology be one of the draws for Legacy makes cinematic sense. (as a side note though, I do think that graphics look fantastic, and there’s nothing to suggest it *wont* have an interesting story, so i’m hopeful)

I Loved the original one, and this one looks to be just as great to me.
