I wish I knew. My wife couldn’t stay awake late enough to finish watching it. Argh!
We will try again tonight.

I give it an A. Thought they covered themselves quite well to explain how Artie could (SPOILER ALERT)….
survive.
As much as Eddie IS the show with his great comic relief moments, this show is held up on the foundation of two great character actors like Saul and CCH. Without their presence it wouldn’t be as stable and well done as it is.

I really enjoyed it. I thought they mystery they set up surrounding
(POSSIBLE SPOILER?)
the new villain was very intriguing. Should provide a great sustained plot line through the new series.
boter says
You could guess almost all of it from having seen last seasons finally. And the way this was written, I’m thinking it would be better served as (or was even meant to be) a 2hr/ 2 part thing.
(SPOILERS STOP READING)
The new character introduced was done so poorly and quite contritely. Why did McPherson want them freed? What was his whole part in it?
The show’s own “laws” were broken!! Sorry the Phoenix kills the TWO closest! that’s what they said last year, at least.
The warehouse has this awesomely secure front door (retinal scanner, exploding hallway etc) and a back door that is just a tube and wooden door leading to a cliff you could drive a car right up next to?
The vault – wow could you save any more on special effects? instead of crappy camera tricks (like turning it upside down wtf?) you could have shot that scene so much better!!!! “Don’t take these off NO MATTER WHAT” and he takes them off and nothing happens???
TallGrrl says
@boter: Wow. Chill out, will ya? You’re taking this WAAAAAAAAAYYYY

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!! SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!
I really enjoyed this episode, but I have two complaints: The minor complaint is starting a new villain when I didn’t feel we had enough of MacPherson. On the plus side, I really like the new villain. Bronzing, apparently, does wonders for Victorian British teeth.
My major complaint is with Leena. I thought it was great she was working for MacPherson because her character is a complete waste of space. An easy-on-the-eyes space, but a waste nonetheless. But now she is right back to being there for . . . what reason? Do something meaningful with Leena or let her character go! Hmmm. You know, Mrs. Frederic could use a new driver.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!! SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!
I hated the ending… WTF? The moment that they are back at the warehouse the whole thing falls apart.
I have hopes for H.G. Wells as the new villain but the way that they got rid of MacPherson and having him apologize at the end?
KG from DC says
It wasn’t great, but it was definitely a very fun ride. I’m VERY interested to see where they …
(spoiler)
take this H.G. Wells subplot and am INFINITELY happy that Artie survived.
The levity in the earlier part of the episode was a bit …odd and misplaced, but I truly enjoyed the episode as a whole.

I thought Pete and Myka were oddly two-dimensional, and I agree their on-screen presence was punctuated by weak dialogue and marginal acting (I don’t blame the actors for this; they had little to work with).
I did not like the original villain, and like the new one even less.
There is one turn of events I’m not liking. Up to now there has been little indication of “personal abilities” beyond those installed by artifacts. Hunches and insights is as far as it went. Now we got a glimpse of Mrs. Frederic perhaps possessing full-blown ESP, and abilities independent of artifacts (as I said, “perhaps” . . . maybe she is wearing magic underwear, so my complaint might be moot).
Still, I’ll keep watching.
They do need to halt Pete’s slide into the role of the village idiot. And they need to let the actress who plays Myka do what she is capable of (we’ve seen hints in some episodes, and she had a good role in Dresden). Artie and Claudia are coming along nicely, and their characters show a lot of promise.
One thing I wish they would do is follow Chuck’s lead of bringing in strong characters, played by capable actors, with their own story arcs interwoven into the weekly plots.
Finally . . . what happened to the football? I miss that thing.

Warehouse 13 Premiere
I give a B+. It was good. It was fun.
And I love Pete and Claudia. Those two characters make that show.
Eureka Premiere
I give an A. An unexpected reset with entertaining results.
Reinventing America’s smartest town.
