Here’s a bit of casting news for season three of “Fringe” that some of you may find a bit SPOILERy. If you don’t want to know, please stop reading now…
EW’s Michael Ausiello reports that actress Amy Madigan has been cast as the mother of special agent Olivia Dunham.
Madigan will appear in a four-episode arc that kicks off in the season-premiere, Ausiello reports.
The original casting breakdown for Mama D. described her as “lovely and together” and deeply devoted to her daughter.

I haven’t seen most of her previous work, but she certainly has the right look to be Liv’s mom.
@Robin: Amy Madigan is one of the giants of Hollywood having stayed the course during good times and bad over her nearly 30 year career and proven she has what it takes to be a real actress of note. Her thespian range is quite extensive going from working opposite Kevin Costner in “Field of Dreams” to pure quirkiness in HBO’s “Carnivale.” She has held her own with such superstars as the above mentioned Costner, Laura Linney, Morgan Freeman, and Ed Harris, just to name a few. She has been nominated for the Oscar, Emmy and won the Golden Globe for her role in “Roe vs Wade.” Amy is the perfect choice for this role and I am really looking forward to her work in the part.
This is another feather in the cap for the cast of “Fringe” as this show continues to prove its chutzpah and worthiness.
