SyFy “Being Human” Adds Cast

SyFy “Being Human” Adds Cast

June 29, 2010 By News Droid 12 Comments

As American fans get ready for the season series of “Being Human” to debut on BBC America next month, SyFy is gearing up for its remake of the series.

EW’s Michael Ausiello reports that the U.S. remake has added three cast members.

First up is Sam Witwer.  Witwer, best known for his work in season eight of “smallville” as Doomsday, will play vampire Aidan.

Meaghan Rath will play the role of the ghost, Molly, and Sam Huntington will play the werewolf, Josh.

Production on the U.S. version begins later this year.

Why do we always have to jack Brittain’s TV shows? The Beeb’s show was just fine. Why can”t we just put on some original progamming?

That’s where Sammy’s best known? Funny, I know him as Crashdown from BSG.

Yeah, but he wasn’t a main character on BSG. He WAS on “Smallville” (but just in Season 8).

    This just breaks my heart.
Why not just show the original series?
WTF is the actual problem here?
We survived “The Avengers”…in Black & White AND in Color!!! (Why, yes. I AM old enough to remember John Steed and Emma Peel on Friday nights on ABC.)
Is it The Stupid? Or is it The Xenophobia?

Me? I’ll pass…and just continue to fly to the UK to see the actual…un-cut and un-CENSORED version, thank you.

As much as I generally dread US remakes of BBC series… I couldn’t get into the original version of Being Human. I’m familiar with some of the guys’ past work and have enjoyed their performances. Not that that really justifies it, especially on BBCA, but I may have to give this version a shot.

Feel free to pelt me with virtual rotten fruit if you like. I wouldn’t blame you.

Two episodes of Being Human is all my wife and I could muster. Never saw the attraction, but respect others finding it intriguing. (posted so Robin would not feel all alone in no love lost for BH)

As an aside, I don’t expect to watch the US version.

Whoever did the casting for this new show truly missed the boat! The success of the British version is all about the three actors. The casting agent should have at least tried to find three comparable actors. Sam Witwer cannot compare to Aidan Turner! Aidan is simply beautiful! It is part of his charm. Sam Witwer?????

Mmm… I can’t wait. Sam Witwer is only pleasing on the eyes. Hell, what am I saying, the guy is gorgeous! And if you don’t believe me, than you should take a look at this: http://media.photobucket.com/image/shitless%20sam%20witwer/DoorQPictures/medium_2977896182_2fe2510ca4_o.jpg

I’ve first saw Sam at a SV convention back in 2009 and after seeing him there I just couldn’t keep my eyes off of him. He just has this presents about him. He was witty, smart, and very-very charming. Hell, even my boyfriend at the time–now my husband was getting annoyed with me drooling over him, but then he noticed that every other female in the room was doing the same.

Yes! I can totally see Sam playing the brooding, tortured, and very-very sexy vampire. In fact, I’ll even go on a limb here and predict that the American version with Sam in it will turn out to be another hit for SyFy.

It’s just weird that we’re going to see the same series airing at the same time in two different countries. I’m just wondering if the US version will be following the same script as the BBC version? Eitehr way, I’ll be watching just to see if it’s good.

Do not count on it being better than the BBC version. Can anyone name one were US was a better version? We always dumb things down for the audience, Brits do not.

k9: All in The Family was based on a British show, and Archie Bunker became a pop culture icon.

The BBC version is the one I started with, and it’s the one I’m staying with. It’s great by the way. I won’t be tuning into the ripoff version.
