Love Hewitt “Obssessed” With Being Wonder Woman

Love Hewitt “Obssessed” With Being Wonder Woman

June 11, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 20 Comments

On last week’s Slice of SciFi, we talked about the ramping up of DC’s comic book films in the near future.

One movie that is getting close to a green light is Wonder Woman.

And there’s an actress who says she wants the role.

Jennifer Love Hewitt.

“I’m fighting so hard,” she told msn. “I think Warner Brothers is getting ready to make Wonder Woman, and I really want to play Wonder Woman. I am obsessed with Wonder Woman.”

Hewitt has been committed to landing the role for a while now. Last year, she expressed the desire to MTV.

“I want to play Wonder Woman really badly,” she said and then listed the reasons she was the right choice. “Curvaceous. Gold bracelets! Look at these wrists—tell me gold bracelets would not look good! And I love little tiaras, and Wonder Woman got to wear one of those. I’m very athletic.”

The reason she wants to play Wonder Woman is because she has big tits and likes to wear bracelets?

    Really?

Some days I cry for the symbol of modern feminism.

I hope common sense prevails and she isn’t offered the part. Find an unknown, someone who looks like Alex Ross’ depiction for example, to play WW. Cast a big name in the role of the villain instead.

NO!!! NO, no, no, no, no! Let me say it again in case I wasn’t clear the first time: NO!

I would weep openly if this happened. Luckily, I think she has as much chance at this role as Sean Young did of getting Catwoman.

I’d be happy with an unknown. I’d also be happy if they cast someone like Charisma Carpenter or Sarah Lancaster. All I know is in addition to being a hot brunette amazon, WW needs to be able to kick ass and I just don’t think I can buy JLH doing any sort of ass kicking.

Wonder Woman is an Amazon, not a half-starved waif with implants! I could never buy Jennifer Love-Hewitt kicking anyone’s a$$. Maybe if Peter Jackson was directing and did a lot of forced perspective to make her look 6 feet tall.

Wonder Woman should be at least 6′ or even a litlle taller, and “sturdy” work out buff, looking strong enough to hold her own against anyone man or woman.

Let’s find a female athlete that can act.

Don’t know if she can act, but I think the last time WW was seriously bandied about, there was a rumor about getting beach volleyball star Gabrielle Reece to play her. I wonder if these days if anyone in the WNBA could fill those bracelets… if height’s your primary requirement, it’s likely the best place to start

Bridget Regan, who just finished playing Kahlen on Legend of the Seeker, would be perfect as Wonder Woman.

    1) I like J Love but she is a tad short for the role (5’2″) and maybe a bit to bouncy. (And I doubt she has implants, have you seen those puppies giggle?)

    2) Bridget Regan (5’8″) could be a very good option; she can act and do the physical stuff.

    3) Gabrielle Reece (6′ 3″) looks the part, for sure.

Sigourney Weaver (5’11”) would have been perfect 20 or 25 years ago. Julie Newmar (5′ 11″) would have been ideal 40 or 50 years ago.

As for a few who might be good options…

    Brooke Shields (6′)
    Lucy Lawless (5’10”)
Kristen Johnston (6′), “3rd Rock From the Sun”
Charlize Theron (5’9″), who didn’t do so bad as Aeon Flux
Terry Farrell (5’11¾”), Lt. Commander Dax on ST:DS9
Brigitte Nielsen (6’1″) has the height but is a terrible actor

    Anyway, that’s a quick list.

I suggest Adam Baldwin, wearing a wig, with implants. Don’t bother shaving.

Carrie Ann Moss would have been a great choice, but she’s prob too old now.
Hate to say it, but Angelina Jolie could definitely carry off the action part of it.
If Catherine Zeta Jones Douglas hadn’t pretty much retired off, she would have prob made a decent choice as well.
and I totally agree with alibertarian’s appraisal of J love’s ability and appearance.. Please.. go find more dead people..
that chick who played Faith In Buffy series and Doll House could prob do a decent job as well,

First of all, I can’t believe people are actually bashing JLH’s appearance. She could easily be the ONLY actress in Hollywood that isn’t fake. How people forget that she was getting bashed by Hollywood for not being close to their ultra-thin (ie. anorexic) idea of beauty. You want to take her to task on her acting fine but leave her perfectly fine body alone.

I don’t think that height is much of a problem, with all the tricks people do in order to circumvent the relatively short height of actors such as Tom Cruise, Jean Claude Van-Damme, or Mark Valley. Or more notably, but in the other direction, to make believable hobbits from people that, despite being somewhat short, aren’t really that short at all, on “lord of the rings”. And I would prefer a Bolland or Hughes-based wonder-woman than someone who looked like Alex Ross’ one, any day of the week, even though sometimes he paints her with a reasonably feminine look. Most of the times she looks halfway between Lucy Lawless (still OK) and Chyna (blew it) though.

I’ve had this same conversation on Sci-Fi Wire.

    I love Jennifer Love Hewitt…

But, after much consideration. I think Brigit Regan would be great in the role.

Eliza Dushku could do it but Regan would be better.

Also, two women from SGU would be great candidates:
    Alaina Huffman & Julia Benson

I have no problem with Jennifer wanting to be Wonder Woman. Even Beyonce. Except for Megan Fox, who dished WW, there are many actress who want to portray her. I think it’s great. It is ashame that Joel Silver is not listening. He will make the final choice when they ever make the movie. In the past he has shown that Jessica Biel is his favorite. In my opinion she has the body but not the look. Soap actress star Nadia Bjorlin looks the part and has a great body. Imagine if they made Wonder Woman a plus size woman. The perfect choice would be Lane Bryant model Ashley Graham.Check her pics online. she is only 22 years old. She is beautiful. And if hollywood wern’t so obsessed with being slim, She would get my vote. Then we would see how shallow people are. I think that this would be a great story line. No matter what size Diana is, she is still a Wonder Woman.

It’s ‘Obsessed’ not ‘Obssessed’! Fix the article title! As for WW, I’m going to see if Megan Fox can act in Jonah Hex and Passion Play, then get back to you.

Honestly, Jennifer would look amazing in the Wonder Woman costume. She does have an average acting record. And really that is all you need. She could pull it off. She is also very likeable. Someone down to earth. Or the girl next store. So I say yes to Jennifer for Wonder Woman. You Go Girl.

WW ? No… maybe if there were a “Little people, big world” version of it. She’s too petitie and… well… sometimes her backside gets a wee bit too large for a costume that reveals so much. 😉
