The man who brought the original B.A. Baracas to life in the 80’s has seen the new “A-Team” movie and he doesn’t like it.
Mr. T. says that the movie is too violent and misses the spirit of the original show.
“People die in the film and there’s plenty of sex but when we did it, no one got hurt and it was all played for fun and family entertainment,” Mr T tells the Guardian.”These seem to be elements nobody is interested in anymore. It was too graphic for me. I’ve no doubt it will do big business at the box office but it’s nothing like the show we turned out every week.”
Mr. T was offered a cameo role in the new film but turned it down.
“The A-Team” opens in theaters tomorrow.
You never can truly go home again. No point in being disappointed or claiming someone destroyed your childhood. It’s best just to move on.
His comments reflect my own concerns about the film. The director made comments that they were attempting to make it more “realistic,” and less “campy,” and it brings to mind a question I’ve found myself asking a lot lately when reading about all of the reboots that are being spat from the Hollywood machine. If you take something and want to change it and change it, at what point does it cease to be the thing you were so interested in embracing in the first place? Just sayin’…
