Vartan: “Alias” Reboot is “Preposterous”

Vartan: “Alias” Reboot is “Preposterous”

June 9, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 4 Comments

On last week’s show, we brought you news that ABC and J.J. Abrams were in early discussions to reboot the series “Alias.”

The prompted actor Michael Vartan, who played Vaughn on the series, to declare the idea “absolutely preposterous.”

“”I’m still young enough to run down a hallway, and so is Jennifer [Garner]. What is this nonsense of recasting Alias? Give us 20 years at least. How dare they?,” he tells SciFi Wire.

“It just feels a little soon to reboot Alias,” Vartan continued. “But hey, you know what? Stranger things have happened, so we’ll just have to wait and see. The one little thing I heard is that it would be with a new cast, which I find kind of weird, because like I said, we’re all still young enough to do that.”

And what if ABC decided to reunited the cast? Would Vartan be ready to jump back into the world of Sydney Bristow?

“To be honest with you, it would have to be the entire returning cast from the original series, and I venture to say that would be impossible to put together,” Vartan said. “People are scattered; their careers have changed. Some people are not even in the business anymore. Some people are movie stars. Of course, it’s work, and if you get a chance to work with a talented group of people, that’s always something I’d be interested in.”

Wait. Is he saying that you can’t do it without the original actors, and you can’t do it WITH the original actors?

Nice to know that Michael listens to the show and put in his 2 cents worth.

As long as they got Jennifer Garner and Victor Garber back, the show would be doable. Vartan’s character ‘Vaughn’ could be killed in the opening episode to create the drama that would ensue. 😀
