Now that Guillermo del Toro has left the director’s gig with “The Hobbit” could that mean that Peter Jackson will step in and take up the directing reigns.
Maybe.
It depends on who you talk to.
Jackson’s manager, Ken Kamins, says that the Oscar-winner won’t be taking up the directing duties any time soon due to other commitments, specifically the third installment of “Tin Tin.”
However, Jackson says he may direct the film. He tells New Zealand’s “Dominion Post” that he will direct “If that’s what I have to do to protect Warner Bros’ investment, then obviously that’s one angle which I’ll explore.”
We’ll keep our ears open for developments as they occur.

As long as it isn’t Tim Burton, who was on a shortlist that Airlock Alpha put out, I wouldn’t care if Rin Tin Tin directed it. Just keep the style of TLoR. That’s all I ask. Make a fitting pre-quel stylistically. Oh, and cast Martin Freeman as Bilbo.
That’s all I ask.
Agreed. I want to be able to pop Hobbit in and follow it up with LOTR:FOTR and not see any difference in the style or music.
