“Thrones” Recasts Role

“Thrones” Recasts Role

May 26, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

The role of Daenerys Targaryen in the upcoming HBO series, “A Game of Thrones” has been recast, according to the Chicago Tribune’s Maureen Ryan.

Actress Emilia Clarke will take over the role of the exiled noblewoman from Tamzin Merchant.

Merchant left the project last month.

Clarke is an English actress whose career includes a role on “Doctors.”

Production on the series has been pushed back from June to July and there will be some parts of the pilot that need to be shot again to include Clarke.

this is the last casting “straw” for me. I have decided that I will not be watching this series.

Sounds like a positive change for me…Merchant doesn’t seem particularly believable to me, her recent stint on Tudors was merely “okay” and I found the shape of her face to be unsettling.
