Gillan Wants Loch Ness Monster Episode

Gillan Wants Loch Ness Monster Episode

May 25, 2010 By Michael Hickerson 3 Comments

So far, Amy Pond has run across the Weeping Angels, the Silurians and the Daleks in her journeys with the Time Lord known as the Doctor. And while there could be other classic monsters and menaces on the horizon, actress Karen Gillan says there’s one particular monster she’d like to see on-screen–the Loch Ness Monster.

“The Scots are taking over. I said to Steven that we should do something with the Loch Ness Monster in Inverness,” she tells Digital Journal. Gillan is Scottish and lives in the town near where the mythical monster is rumored to preside. And she thinks that the Doctor and company meeting the famous monster would be a great idea. (Apparently she’s never seen “Terror of the Zygons” which features the fourth Doctor taking on the Zygons, who have their own version of the Loch Ness Monster. It’s on VHS but sadly not yet out on DVD…)

In addition to the mythical beast, Gillan says she’d like to see actor Billy Connolly have a guest role in the show.

“I would love to see someone like Billy Connolly in the show [but not as Nessie, we presume]. I just think we should have someone who’s a big character and who is really funny. Someone like that, who is Scottish,” she told
