Maybe they should have seen this one coming….
ABC has canceled “FlashForward” according to EW’s Michael Ausiello. The sci-fi series, based on the novel by Robert J. Saywer, initially had solid ratings, only to see them decline over time. The series took a long hiatus and never won back its audience figures, leading to its cancellation.
No word yet on if the season finale will wrap up all the storylines or leave fans hanging.
Meanwhile, the alien invasion will continue another year. “V” has been given a green light for a second season.
The prognosis was not looking good for a while but a recent uptick in ratings has given ABC confidence in the show for a second season.
EW’s Michael Ausiello reports that the series will get a 13-episode second season.
ABC will unveil their 2010-11 schedule next week.
Several weeks ago our Slice of SciFi Poll results hinted at the fact of V’s popularity over that of Flash Forward. While the storyline for FF is more intriquing and unpredicatible, making for enjoyable watching, ABC screwed the pooch on this one by taking too long of a break even before the show had a chance to gain a solid audience.
V is predictible, but this newer version has some really good A-List TV and film actors on board and the scripts allow them to stretch their acting arms a bit making again for exciting watching. Morena Baccarin (of Firefly/Serenity & SG-1 fame) is both downright stunning and frightening as Anna the Queen V.
I’m irritated by this, Flashforward grew into an exciting and interesting story and Dominic Monaghan’s character Simon evolved into one of the best characters on tv since Battlestar Galactica ended.
V is a predictable show. Flash Forward isn’t. F. Forward wasn’t marketed well enough in the beginning and should have never taken the hiatus. I am bummed! This show is unique. ABC should keep the show on. I feel that it will have a delayed cult following if they do.
V has been growing on me lately but I would gladly trade it for a FlashForward renewal. There is so much more depth to the storyline.
I think the character of Simon played by Dominic Monaghan has a lot of potential. But if they are going to end it, I hope they give it an ending. I think that all future series on all networks should be required to provide a bonafide ending when the series gets canceled. They owe it to their viewers.
I have to admit that I was interested in FF then before the long break I lost interest and never went back. “V” on the other hand I have been looking forward to “V” everyweek. I’m really happy it’s going to get another season because while it’s not great yet I predict it will be.
I gave up on Flash Forward but still catch V because3 while it is stupid and makes no since, it does keep my attention. I am behind, but I am more likly to catch up on it. Its not good but I am still mildly interested.
I still wish Flash Forward renewed, and V was canceled. Flash Forward might have been dull and boring, but it was not as stupid as V.
Flash Forward was doomed from the start of it’s long hiatus. Not only did it take a loooong nap on everyone, the network choose to bring it back with pivotal mythology episode on the second weekend of the NCAA tournament. As I didn’t feel the I wanted to watch the episode online, that was the Flash Forward became stuck on pause for me.
I new FF wasn’t getting a second season, it’s just gotten progressively worse each episode. The only episode that was SLIGHTLY decent was the one where we learned who Suspect Zero was. Or whatever they called him.
When will the networks learn? A long hiatus is doom to a TV show. Viewers are fickle and there are so many choices. This happened to Jericho too.
I never watched “FlashForward”, but I do watch “V”, so I’m happy.
I haven’t read the “FlashForward” book yet, so bear with me…
How exactly did they expect to move on to a second season, anyway? By the nature of the premise, “FlashForward” struck me as a one-trick pony. What were they going to do besides have everyone experience another flash forward and essentially reboot their premise?
I never expected to see a second season, mostly because I couldn’t see a method of keeping the plates spinning.
The crew gave some ideas as to what a season two would look like when they played my voicemail on one shows, but it wasn’t very convincing. So, this show was always a one-and-done to me.
How can any true “Sci Fi” fan really “choose” to say that “V” is by any measure “good sci fi” as opposed too “Flashforward” which if nothingg else, made you walk away from most episodes saying, “wow, what if..????.
The acting alone was much better on Flash forward than V. And the storyline on FF was years ahead of V. Horrible, horrible decision on ABC’s part .
