A few months ago, despite low ratings and a decreasing fan base, it looked like NBC was leaning toward giving “Heroes” another season.
Now the odds are more likely that NBC will give the show a pink slip when its 2010-11 schedule is announced next week.
Vulture reports that while the Peacock was once considering ordering a new season of the show to keep in case one of its new drama series didn’t attract an audience, the network is now more confident in its five drama pilots and is ready to cut its losses with “Heroes.”
NBC reportedly wants to give J.J. Abrams’ new series “Undercovers” time to build an audience and not have the specter of “Heroes” hanging over it. And that means we’ll probably never get to meet the cool Samurai Hiro from the future.
Of course, this isn’t official yet and won’t be until NBC announces its full schedule next week.
But it’s increasingly likely that “Heroes” is gone for good.
KG from DC says
The Heroes=Hate has been infantile, at best. It’s a TV show, if you like it – watch it. If not – don’t. The moaning has been annoying. With that said, if it doesn’t come back – I won’t be sad. However, if it does – I’ll be watching. Some people like their craptacular in the form of Legend of the Seeker, I like mine in the form of Heroes.

I stopped caring about this show after the second season.
Lejon from Chandler says
If they had done this after season two, no one would have cared. Haven’t watched since then, and I really don’t think I’ve missed anything.

While I have been a staunch fan of this show from day one, including it’s slow periods, and would like to see it continue to completion, this news of its possible cancelation doesn’t surprise me too much.
Kyle Nin says
“And that means we’ll probably never get to meet the cool Samurai Hiro from the future.”
Actually, you wouldn’t see him anyway, because that future doesn’t exist anymore, not after they stopped Sylar at the end of Volume 1.
“Now the odds are more likely that NBC will give the show a pink slip …”
I like the show, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it got the axe.
Bruce says
I really enjoyed this show for a while, but it lost me last season. I didn’t even realize that it was still on. Perhaps that’s because I’m a DVR user, and those tend to give you tunnel vision. I have little awareness of TV shows outside of the ones I schedule to automatically record.

I would love to see a show centered around Hiro and Ando. Those guys are the best.

For the record, I say this as someone who used to absolutely LOVE this show, who went out and bought the season 1 DVD despite being unemployed, and has watched each and every episode of every single season:
Heroes… don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out.
Chris From Poland says
I loved the first season, I liked the second season, I wanted to like the third and I wanted not to dislike the fourth. Notice the pattern? As much as I wanted to like the show in its fourth season, now I’m convinced this thing needs to die out for its own good.
Arkle says
They should’ve just wrapped it up last season so the show could go out with some dignity. Cancelling it now, with so much still left hanging (not that I ever expected them to tie up every loose end; B5 still had loose ends when Sleeping In Light aired but that didn’t stop it from being one of the best TV shows of any genre, any decade, EVER!) would just be a slap to all of us who stuck with it. If we can’t get a full season, could we at least get a TV movie like with Homicide so we can have a proper ending? I’m willing to settle for that.
Chuck Barritt says
Finally it goes away! Take that an “V” with it. Why they killed FlashForward over V is todays’ mystery.
Mr Wall says
the series completely lost me at season 3 with it’s excessively flexible time lines rendering any and all threats pointless
