Sequels Set for “Titans,” “Journey”

April 29, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 1 Comment

Two more 3-D movies are getting sequels.

Collider reports that sequels to “Clash of the Titans” and “Journey to the Center of the Earth” are being put into production.  Both films were screened in 3-D and made enough money at the box office to warrant sequels.

Deadline reports that director Louis Letterier will not return for the “Titans” sequel but star Sam Wentworth will reprise his role.  The site also says that all those who survived the first “Titans” will be back for more.

No word yet on if the sequel will be shot in 3-D this time around or if it will simply be up-converted to 3-D like the first installment.

It’s also not certain yet if actor Brendan Fraser will reprise his role from the first “Journey” for a sequel.   The new film will work from Richard Outten’s script “Mysterious Travels: The Lost Map of Treasure Island” in which Professor Trevor Anderson and his nephew Sean head to a mysterious island that was the subject of three novels: Jules Verne’s “Mysterious Island”, Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Treasure Island’, and Jonathan Swift’s “Gulliver’s Travels.

No word yet on when either film will begin production.
