Rumor: Megan Gale Leading Candidate for “Wonder Woman”

Rumor: Megan Gale Leading Candidate for “Wonder Woman”

April 27, 2010 By Michael Hickerson 1 Comment

megan_galeWhile there’s been a lot of discussion about where the Marvel Studios movies are headed in the next couple of years, there hasn’t been a lot of news about the future of the DC Comics franchise at Warner Brothers.

A few weeks ago, we reported that the studio has appointed Christopher Nolan to oversee the proposed reboot of the Superman movies and that we’ll get a new Batman film in the summer of 2012.  It’s also been rumored that DC wants to get the long gestating Flash movie into production for that summer and the long in development limbo Wonder Woman movie is also part of the plan.

You may recall that Wonder Woman has been on again, off again for years with a lot of high profile directors and actresses linked to the project.

One name that has persistently surfaced when it comes to rumors on Wonder Woman is actress Megan Gale.  Gale is an Australian actress and model who has been linked to the role since the rumors of a Justice League movie began circulating a few years ago.  The project was put on the back burner by the writer’s strike but it now looks like Warner Brothers is ready to put the project back into development to compete with the upcoming “Avengers” movie.

And in order to capture some buzz, the studio is looking to make a splash at this year’s ComicCon.   MovieHole.net reports that the studio could announce Gale in the role at the annual event.

“I’d love to do it”, says the actress, confirming she’d been doing fight-training for the film in the lead up to its planned shoot. “And I’d love to see it happen.”

But the actress says she hasn’t been cast in the role yet and that she’d have to look at a couple of factors before she took the role.

““If it is indeed back on, it’d be interesting to know who’s directing it — because George Miller [who was originally attached to direct the film before it fell apart] is going to be busy with the new Mad Max film for the next couple of years,” she said.

And we can all look on the bright side of this casting rumor. At least the Megan in question isn’t Megan Fox.
