I’ve only seen one show with Tennant (Waters of Mars), 6 episodes with Eccleston, and two with Smith.
It was a close call between Eccleston and Tennant, but Tennant is my call.
Perhaps that will change as I make my way from the Eccleston days to the current Doctor, and perhaps Water of Mars is not a valid measuring stick as I don’t know how typical it was of Tennant’s regular episode.
It could also be Water of Mars is a much better story, and more powerful than what I watched so far of the other two.
Regardless, as of right now, Tennant it is, and by unanimous vote (at least at our home).

I’ve seen all the new ones up to what has been played in the US on BBC America.
If pressed, right now, I have to vote for Mr. Tennant. His run was amazing, and combined with Donna Noble was some of the best stuff I’d seen in a while, a long while, and really pushing my childhood warped love of Peter Davison
However, if pressed in a few years, it might be hard if the early results are any indication. I’m really enjoying Mr. Smith’s work.

I have enjoyed all of them. I wish Ecclestons’ run was longer but all three have been excellent. The casting has been great as far as I’m concerned.
I vote D: All of the above

Where’s the ALL choice. They’re all different and I like them all for different reasons.

Eccleston by far.
I keep looking at Smith, and keep thinking, “He’s just too young”.
Is the next doctor going to be in high school?

Maybe it’ll be a woman and REALLY blow people’s minds.

…I’m going with Smith. The dude is awesome, and he was not only awesome but completely believable from the word “go”. He brings a mix of Eccleson’s seriousness and Tennant’s enthusiasm, and people have compared bits of his performance to every single Doctor we’ve ever seen, but he’s just so new and fresh and compelling, no matter what he’s doing.

My pick is Tenant, but only because I haven’t seen enough of Smith to fully judge him so far. Eccleston was great, but Tenant just seemed to have more fun with the role.

For now it’s gotta be Tennant…haven’t seen enough of Smith to judge him yet.

For now, will pick David Tennant. My all time favorite is still Peter Davison, but darned if David Tennant comes way , WAY close!
Eccleston was never the Doctor for me, IMO. While Matt Smith has had an excellent start, we haven’t seen enough (only 4 episodes) to really determine his long term reign as the Doctor.

I went with Eccleston. Although Tennant did an amazing job, I thought Eccleston played the part more as I would picture a character that’s been through all that the Doctor has been through, including loads of cynisism and “f-it” attitude.
Eccleston. Without him the show doesn’t have the hugely successful comeback.

With only two episodes of the Smith era aired in the US, I still have to go with Tennant. That might change, though. New guy is good. And in my mind, it doesn’t really matter which actor is playing him. He’s always The Doctor. 🙂

Love Matt, he’s really amazing, and I’m sure he’ll be either my favorite eventually, but I still love Tennant best. But I’m missing him less and less. Matt is real good as the Doctor, and he’s got awhile now to grow into the role. We haven’t seen him enough yet to prefer him to Doctor 10. But I have no doubt, he IS the Doctor.

I have to vote for David Tennant. Eccleston was good but just didn’t grab me. Tennant was the perfect mix of child-like enthusiasm and rage. He seemed to do the best job of portraying a man who maintained a respect for life and a lust for gathering and sharing knowledge while suppressing his loneliness and anger over the horrors he had both been forced to witness AND inflict upon others.
I am really liking what Matt Smith is doing as The Doctor but I just haven’t seen enough of him yet. Maybe after I see how he handles the weeping angels I will change my vote!…..
Loved Tennant the most of the three listed, but likin’ Smith already, and thought Eccleston was a perfect pick for the first year reboot — but still kickin’ it old school with Tom Baker remaining my all-time fav Timelord.

Gotta say it sounds like a lot of you Tennant voters are hedging your bets to see how Smith does. I have to give kudos to Smith, he is only 27 years old, but I think he brilliantly captures the vitality of youth, with that quirky, eccentricity I would expect from someone that has lived 900+ years. I am not saying Tennent wasn’t great, but Smith is showing something that I would not expect from an actor who is under 30 years old.
It’s so very early in Matt Smith’s run that I simply can’t vote for him. I still cringe at the youth of this actor (which I’m sure I’ll get over in time), and I detested Eccleston. So, it’s David Tennant all the way!!!
