Nimoy Retiring

April 21, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 9 Comments

The man who brought Spock and William Bell to life is retiring.

Actor Leonard Nimoy tells the Toronto Sun that his work in the upcoming season finale of “Fringe” will be his last as an actor. Nimoy says he feels like he’s retiring on a high note after working on “Fringe” and last year’s “Star Trek” reboot and that after sixty years in the acting profession, it’s time for him to rest.

Nimoy may also be retiring from the convention circuit as well. He said that this weekend’s Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo could be his last one.

The industry mourns this news, but if there’s one actor that’s earned the right to be at peace in his last days – it’s Nimoy. You’re presence will be missed if this is true.

Dude, he’s not dying. He’s just not working anymore.

Leonard, enjoy a well deserved retirement, but I know your photography will keep you quite busy and active. Live Long and Prosper my friend, from one Vulcan to another.

Maybe he’ll work on a memoir or two. That should be some interesting reading.

Although he’ll certainly be missed, I have to respect this decision. Good on ya, Len. Enjoy it!

And to Mr. Nimoy, who I’ve admired since I was a wee Star Trek:TOS fan, I say:
Live long, continue to prosper…and Thank You.

GazerBeam, who alluded to anything about him dying? I just wished him well. *confused*

Maybe the whole bit about him being “at peace in his last days” led me to read a bit further in that I should have. (I do that too much) 🙂

Also, the RIP bit threw me, but I kinda figured out that it wasn’t for Nimoy 🙂

Yeah, sure. He also “retired” back in the 70s, then retired again in the 80s, then retired again after Undiscovered Country.

The man is busy as ever, and I say good for him.
