Jackson Talks About Nick Fury

Jackson Talks About Nick Fury

April 20, 2010 By Mike Hickerson Leave a Comment

According to actor Samuel L. Jackson, while Iron Man, Thor and Captain America will be featured in the upcoming “The Avengers” movie, the real star of the show will be the character he plays, Nick Fury.

“‘The Avengers’ is my own starring vehicle for that character, pretty much,” Jackson tells SciFi Wire.

He added that the movie will be here sooner than we think.

“It’s not that far away,” he said. “It’s [starting production in] February. Is that far away for you? What are you, 12, that you can’t wait till next year? Come on, February. It’s just February. I got time to get in shape and everything.”

Between now and then, we’ll see Jackson with roles in the upcoming “Iron Man 2” and “Captain America.” However, we may not see him in “Thor.”

“”I’m not in charge of making those decisions. I thought I was [in it],
he said. They said I was in the trades, and I was like, ‘Ooh, I got a job!’ I called my agent, she said, ‘Nah, you’re not in it. They misprinted.’ I was like, ‘Well, s–t, they need to pay me just because they put my name in it.'”

Jackson says that he’s looking forward to Fury becoming more of an action hero as his role in the Marvel Universe progresses. The actor also said that he finds it easier to act with the eye patch Fury wears than the contacts he had to wear in “XXX.”

“Iron Man 2” opens in theaters May 7.
