Guess Who Wants To Be Catwoman

April 6, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 9 Comments

With Warner Brothers targeting a release date of the summer of 2012 for the next Batman installment, the rumor mill on who the villains might be and who would play them has started to heat up again.

Director Christopher Nolan has been mum on just which of the rogues gallery he might want to include in the next installment, but that hasn’t deterred fans from speculating.

Two of the most prominent rumors have been that we’d see the Riddler and/or Catwoman in the next installment.

And there’s one Hollywood actress who says she’d like the chance to play Selina Kyle.

Emily Blunt has expressed an interest in the role. According to the web site Batman on Film, Blunt has turned down roles in several other superhero films so she wouldn’t miss out on the chance to play Catwoman.

Blunt was originally linked to the role of Black Widow in this summer’s “Iron Man 2” but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. There are also reports that she turned down a role in the upcoming “Captain America” movie.

Of course, whether or not producers would hire Blunt is another question. She may be interested in the role, but that doesn’t mean she’s been cast in it. Also, we haven’t had confirmation that Catwoman will feature in a new Batman movie or that there’s even a script yet for the film.

Ok, I can see Emily as Catwoman.. I’d also like them to take the image of the current comic Catwoman and bring it to the screen.

For me… My cat woman is Kate Beckinsale. We already know she looks damn fine in black PVC. That and she is a fine actress that can play dark roles with the best of them.
    Bring on the Kate.

Eh I can see it, but not what i’d expect though i’m not sure who’d i would put in. It would definitly haveto be an actress who can really pull off that dark role. I was afraid that it would go down in flames and be the hot yet completely horrible actress Megan Fox.

I don’t even know who Emily Blunt is. Off the top of my head I would go with Rosario Dawson. Who ever they pick she should be an actor first, hottie second. Eliza Dushku could pull off the look and Athleticism but don’t know if her acting is up to a Nolan script. As long as they make her look like she’s from the streets and she’s within 10 years of Christian Bale’s age it should be fine.

    Eliza Dushku?!?!?

. . . Beckinsale I would agree with, but (and it pains me to say this) I would opt for Megan Fox before Dushku.

Actually Beckinsale is a good choice but, and you can call me a Biggot, Batman is from the UK, the Joker was an Aussie, enough with the outsourcing our comic book folk! I just hope they go with a badass over a stripper. Remembering Vivica Fox in Kill Bill but that was then. . .

I know who Emily blunt is now but I only see her as that skinny sickly girl in Devil Wears Praada. Oh and she’s another outsourced actress innit?

Emily Blunt or Kate Beckinsale? Kate is ten years older then Emily so it would depend on how Catwoman is written for the movie. Is this a Catwoman origin story or is Catwoman already a career criminal at the height of her powers. I think either could handle the role.
