Could Megan Fox Be “Red Sonja”?

April 5, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 15 Comments

A couple of years ago, director Robert Rodriguez was looking to do an updated version of “Red Sonja” for the big-screen with Rose McGowan as the title character.

The project was stuck in development limbo for a while but it appears now it may be coming off the back burner.

However, Rodriguez and McGowan are no longer involved with the project, though McGowan has been linked to role in the reboot of “Conan.”

CinemaBlend reports that Millineum Films is interested in a “Red Sonja” project and may have offered the lead role to Megan Fox. The studio is said to be searching for a new writer and director for the film. (How’s that for putting the cart before the horse?)

While there’s nothing official yet, what do you think of Fox playing Red Sonja? Good idea, bad idea?

I’d rather have Rose McGowan than Megan Fox. I also think Rose is a better actress. Bah dum cha. 🙂

I can picture McGowan. Fox seems too frail.

I don’t know if I see either actress. Rose McGowan is by far the better actress (not that Megan Fox is much competition), but she’s a little petite for the role of Red Sonja. I don’t know if I could believe her as a barbarian warrior queen.

*sigh* This is another movie that will fail miserably and the execs will say, “Huh. I guess folks don’t like Red Sonja”. Instead of realizing that the actress they have playing the part sucks.

Ok, as with so many remakes over the last few years, the original movie was pants, but why the heck don’t producers take a chance with new material? There are thousands of writers out there with original material. STOP REMAKING EVERYTHING!!!

I guess that all depends on who is directing, doesn’t it? If it’s Michael Bay, we already know that he and his cameras share a Megan Fox fetish…

Definite NO to Megan Fox for practically anything. She cannot carry her own movie at this point!

    How about Sigourney Weaver?

    Angelina Jolie?

It would have to be someone who is at least 6′ tall and attractive but has the ability to do stunts and can still look feminine with muscles.

    Jennifer Garner? maybe…

I was so looking forward to Robert Rodriguez doing this movie with Rose McGowan. The fact the studio is trying to attach a celebrity name to the project before signing a director or having a script signals this as a big fail before cameras even start shooting.

Considering the Rose McGowan is a stick these days, atleast MF is a little more voluptuous. However, no… I’ll be bypassing this project no matter WHO’S cast or directing. The original movie was a travesty… I can’t see why the remake would be any better.
