The troubled Broadway musical based on Marvel’s Spider-Man has lost it Mary Jane.
Actress Evan Rachel Wood has dropped out of the show, according to Scifi Wire.
Wood has been in rehearsals for the show for the past several months and was set to star with Reeve Carney as Peter Parker and Alan Cumming as the Green Goblin. She apparently left the show due to a scheduling conflict.
The show has had a troubled history. The production ran out of funding and was almost shut down last year. It also has kept pushing back its off Broadway opening, leading some to wonder if the show will ever see the light of day.
Now the show has lost its leading lady, but the producer say that won’t derail the production.
“”Evan Rachel Wood has departed ‘Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark’ due to a scheduling conflict. Casting is underway to find a new Mary Jane to join the rest of the cast in the production,” they told Variety.
I Hope Leslie Kritzer play Mary Jane in the Spider Man Musical.
