“Green Lantern” Will Be 3-D

March 9, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

The current fad of making virtually every tentpole movie in 3-D shows no signs of stopping and has claimed another potential blockbuster as its next victim.

Ryan Reynolds confirmed Sunday night that the upcoming movie version of “Green Lantern” will have both a 2-D and a 3-D version.

The movie will be the same in both theaters content-wise. But movie-goers will be able to choose between seeing it 2-D or 3-D.

“Yeah, it is [being released in 3-D],” said Reynolds. “Yeah, absolutely.”

The actor wouldn’t speculate on what the move to 3-D could mean for the movie or its special effects sequences.

He did, however, say that he won’t recite the Green Lantern oath until fans hear it in the movie.

“I’m not doing it,” Reynolds laughed when asked to recite the oath by MTV News. “No, no, you’re not sucking me into this, man! Do you have any idea how much trouble I’d get into if I just belted out the oath right here?”

    In Brightest Day,
    In Blackest Night,
No evil shall escape my sight.

Let those who worship evil’s might,
    Beware my power,
    Green Lantern’s Light

I would love to see this in 3D. I know you guys are pressed over 3D, but I can enjoy any movie in 3D if done right like Avatar where it brings you IN to the enviroment, and not the “in your face” gimmicky scenes like “Journey to the Center of the Earth”…
