“Tron: Legacy” Trailer Won’t Debut On-Line For A While

March 8, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 3 Comments

If you have been hanging around the Internet all weekend, waiting for the official release of the new “Tron: Legacy” trailer, you may want to log-off and step away from the computer for a bit.

Disney has decided it will not release the trailer on-line any time soon.

The company has decided to hold off on releasing an official version of the trailer on-line in the hopes of driving fans to theaters to see it attached to the new Tim Burton movie, “Alice in Wonderland.”

Of course, that’s assuming the theater in question shows the trailer in front of “Alice.” Some reports indicate that the trailer was not shown in front of several IMAX showings and some theater chains weren’t showing the “Tron” trailer with “Alice.” This being the Internet age, most fans assumed they could check it out on a monitor screen at home.

As we all learned in high school geometry, never assume….

” “It was important to me that when people see it for the first time, they have the opportunity to see it in 3-D on a big screen. The entire second half of the trailer is in 3-D. On your iPhone, it’s not quite the same,” said director Joseph Kosinski.

The trailer has already begun showing up as a bootleg copy in other venues.

Actually, thanks to the hard work of some ARG fans, the online trailer has been unlocked.

The light cycle sequence is off the hook.
I expect it to be BETTER than the original.

I’ve gone to see “Alice” twice now, the first time in 3D and the second time in 2D, both times at the same AMC multi-plex.

When I saw the movie in 3D they did show the trailer for Tron trailer just before starting the movie. When I saw it in 2D there was no Tron trailer.
