Vancouver police believe the body that was discovered in a well-known park and tourist attraction is that of actor Andrew Koenig, son of the legendary Star Trek actor Walter Koenig. Our sympathies and condolences go out to Andrew’s family.
While the cause of death is still under investigation, evidence at the scene may point to suicide according to a spokesperson from the Vancouver police. The actor had suffered from bouts of depression in the past, but police aren’t certain that, if this turns out to be a case of suicide, a new onset of the disorder was responsible for causing him to take his own life.
His acting career spanned over three decades that included starring roles in the popular 1980’s sitcom “Growing Pains” playing the character of Richard “Boner” Stabone; alongside his father in the Walter Koenig film “InAlienable,” and stints in the Star Trek universe on “Deep Space Nine.” He is set to appear on the quirky romantic comedy “DaZe: Vol. Too – NonSeNse” with Gary Busey set for release sometime this year. However, Andrew is best known with scifi fans as The Joker in the hit online short titled “Batman: Dead End”.
Andrew, who resided in Los Angeles, was an original resident of the Vancouver area and was there visiting friends as well as to be a spectator at the Olympic games. Andrew has been reported missing since February 14.
