Almost as highly anticipated as the news on who will play Green Lantern in the upcoming big-screen version is who will play Sinestro.
News is leaking this week that actor Mark Strong (currently seen in “Sherlock Holmes”) is the leading candidate for play Sinestro, though fans expecting a duel between Green Lantern and Sinestro will have to wait for a sequel.
Strong says that in the comics, Sinestro wasn’t a bad guy right away but fell to the dark side. He says the script for the movie and plans for future installments will follow a similar storyline.
“I think it will stick closely to the origin story, but we all know Sinestro, for an example, is a character who goes over to the dark side, and of course, Carol, played by Blake Lively, in later versions becomes a bad guy as well. I think people will be able to see forward to the characters that in the comic went on to (become bad guys)… but people will be ahead of us on all that I think,” he said.
In the comics, Sinestro was originally a member of the Green Lantern Corps and a mentor to Hal Jordan.

Actually, Carol Ferris didn’t become a bad guy (gal), rather she was controlled by the Star Sapphire against her will.
