“Chuck” Ratings Slip Slightly on Monday

January 20, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 6 Comments

The ratings for “Chuck” slipped a bit Monday for the fourth installment of the third season.  However, the news is still good and given NBC’s current woes, it still looks good for a fourth season.

“Chuck” was off a tenth of a point from last week, down to 6.5 million viewers for the 8 p.m. EST hour.  That was good enough for third place overall, behind CBS’s “How I Met Your Mother” and “Accidentally on Purpose” and ABC’s “The Bachelor.”

Meanwhile, the return of “24” and the debut of the CW’s “Life Unexpected” drove “Heroes” to another series low for ratings.  The series is now the lowest rated scripted series on a major network, bringing serious questions about whether or not the show can survive for a fifth season.

The price tag for the show is high and while producer Tim Kring is pitching a new season to NBC executives, the show is clearly on the bubble for next year.

Praying for a 4th season! Hopefully NBC does not commit a “Leno”…

Damn you KG… I will blame you if it goes away.
It’s not perfect, but damn it’s better than 90% of the TV on TV.

I thought last week’s show was uncharacteristically disjointed and unfocused. They tried to cover too much in one hour, and the presentation suffered for it.

I agree it’s still better than the majority of shows, and while I am not yet worried I hope they don’t make a habit of cramming so much in a one hour show. Gives us the action, gives us the little treats, give us the comedy, and for goodness sake, don’t go back to the are-they-or-aren’t-they interaction between Sarah and Chuck.

BTW, him giving up Sarah “for the good of mankind” was a lame plot point, and it does not explain why, once their feelings were voiced, they could not both save the world and be romantically involved. By far that is the weakest portion of the show.
