The end of the 10th Doctor’s era began over the weekend.
“The End of Time, Part 1” aired in the UK and the United States over the weekend. So, what’d you think of the episode?

Scary. Once again, the combination of Tennant and Simm together on the same show is fantastic. Am going to have a hard time giving Tennant up as the Doctor. Hopefully Matt Smith will be able to fill his shoes.
Once again Davies has me cursing his name, but at least this time it’s in a really good way. Is it Saturday yet?!?!?!!!
I’m still looking for my jaw. 😉
Damn those Brittish Bastards for making us wait for the second part.
I thought it was absolutely terrible. I didn’t like the way OTT Master. The way they handled his resurrection was awful. Him eating like crazy was stupid and disgusting. Shooting lightning out of his hands was terrible. Since when does the Tardis move in real time? There is no reason why he couldn’t have arrived at the prison before the Master was resurrected.
There were only three good things in this episode.
1.) The Doctor’s and Wilif’s scene in the diner.
2.) The scene with The Doctor and The Master talking (before The Master became Palpatine)
3.) Shimmer!!
I am very happy that RTD is leaving. So very looking forward to the Moffat era!
Worst Dr. Who ever!!!!!!!!!!
I am never watching Dr. Who again!
It was “okay.” RTD does know his Dr. Who mythology and while he is good at taking an entire season’s worth of episodes to set up whatever epic story-arc he wishes to tell, he has almost always failed when it comes to wrapping up said story-arc. His finales have always been weak and thin. Now, while he has been able to drop the occasional hint here and there about the Doctor’s eventual end, he has really only had part 1 to put the pieces into place, and unfortunately, did so at the expense of a character driven story.
I fear that in trying to set up so many elements for the Doctor’s end that it will take much of part 2 to try to tie up those loose threads which will again come at the expense of a story with interesting characters and development.
Well, a lot will depend on what happens in the last episode. I feel that ending seasons RTD is batting .500. I did like how he ended Season 1 and 2, but felt 3 and 4 were a bit lacking. There were still moments in those shows still enjoyable.
Vysen1, I would say there are some explanations about the prison. The Doctor may have not known the exact moment when the Master returned. Just a clue from the vision from the Ood. Or maybe from the Doctor’s perspective… once he got the image form the Ood, he took that as the moment that “real time” kicked in when the link between him the Master and felt throw rules of time that is when he needed to materialized.
Remember the previous episode where the Doctor decided to go again Rules of Time? Perhaps, the Doctor over compensated in this case considering the end of “Waters of Mars.”
