“Smallville” Movie Event Set for January

November 12, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 4 Comments

For months, we’ve heard rumblings about a pivotal two-part story coming in 2010 to “Smallville.”

The two part story would revolve around the new Justice League and is from the pen of comic book writer Geoff Johns.

Included in the cast will be Michael Shanks as Hawkman and the newly added Pam Grier as a government agent sent to keep her eye on the Justice League.

The episodes are generating a lot of buzz and EW’s Michael Ausiello reports the CW has decided to combine the two episodes into one two-hour movie event.

The event would air in late January.

Awesome. Smallville has really stepped the story up this season. I wish they had done so years ago.

The episode is about the Justice Society not the new Justice League. The Society is older than the League

I have to agree that the show is getting back on its feet a bit this season. The cynical part of my brain knows that this “movie event” is just the result of The CW needing something to put in the Top Model timeslot and trying to create hype in order to compete with the impending Olympics. But the part that’s finally enjoying the plot again doesn’t really care.

I’ve been enjoying the Superman legend since I was a child in school during the 1950s, and used the comics to help me improve my vocabulary. The tale of Superman, and those he meets has been a classic tale, and there are those of us who have been fans for decades, knowing it can’t be all things to all people. At least they’re trying with this, and the mythos lives on. Enjoy it for what it’s worth.
