“Eastwick” Canceled

November 10, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 20 Comments

EW’s Michael Ausiello reports that ABC has decided to not order any more episodes of freshman series, “Eastwick.”

The series, which was given a 13 episode intial order, is effectively canceled.

The series has been struggling in the ratings in its Wednesday time slot.

No word yet on if the show will be pulled for sweeps and if they will air the final episodes.

The good news for “Eureka” fans is that the cancellation of the show frees actress Jamie Ray Newman to return to SyFy’s show as Tess next summer.

Frack! I was really enjoying this show. It was the first thing I had watched on ABC in years. It was intelligent, witty and just plain fun. Wait. Intelligent? Witty? No wonder they cancelled it. Frack!

EASTWICK was cancelled because it sucked bad in the ratings. It barely did better than Jay Leno.

And no, EASTWICK is neither Witty or Intelligent. It was just BAD.

ABC . . . the new Fox Network. Cancelling and undercutting shows since 1943.

Eastwick was the one good show this season, better then Flash Forward, that show was boring and depressing to watch and it was nice not to watch a show about dancing or singing. ABC was dumb to cancel that show and keep the other crap. I hope someone else picks it up, one more reason to not watch ABC, back to cable I go.

And with Hank being cancelled as well, Zoe may be back in Eureka next season too.

That’s it, I’m done watching the first season of any new show! If it makes it to the second season I’ll buy the first season on DVD or watch it for free somewhere on the internet. I’m disgusted with stupid ratings and the almighty buck! Eastwick is. was, a funny, heartwarming, and interesting TV show. Close enough to the original movie yet far more entertaining in a series. I also know that my opinion will mean absolutely nothing to the high and mighty muckity mucks with their finger on the button. So heres my finger!!!!!!!

the drawback to that reaction is that if people don’t watch the first season, there won’t be a second.

Bummer! Paul Gross is sooooooooo yuuummy in this show, I would love to see it concluded.
And I would love to know more about the boy who branded himself! Who is he really, what is he up to.
If the execs had any brains at all, they would advertise this show to more women, especially in the right age group, and watch the ratings go uuuuuuuup.

Yes Mike that’s how it is suppose to work, right? But I’ve watched many first seasons or should I say tried to, such as American Gothic, Point Pleasamt, Prey, and I’m sure there is half a dozen or more that I’ve just forgotten, not because they weren’t good but because they come and go to fast! I think a new show has to be in the right timeslot to make it. Eastwick was up against CSI (one of the many not sure which one) why didn’t they air it on Sunday night in the timeslot that Charmed had? Wouldn’t that have been better? Saturday and Sunday are baron for anything good to watch, unless you like the Syfy movie of the week. Maybe some other network like tnt or USA or even Syfy could pick up the ball and run with it! Or maybe Fox could of just waited until the 13 episodes had run and then replayed it during CSI’s reruns.
But to stop after (what, 5 ) is just unfair to all the veiwers who were watching!

Cancel it I will no longer watch your channel. Maybe we’ll get lucky and another smarter network will pick it up and rake in the profits from another ABC blunder

Great story / movie / series. However, The episode writing went completely downhill toward the end … Nothing really interesting / new / dangerous or suspenseful happened. Nobody’s life was in mortal peril witches weren’t doing anything terribly witchy … In fact a war between the witches of old vs new would have been terrific! and Daryl didn’t seem very evil or interesting in any particular way … Just came across as a bit of a supernatural playboy sleaze. #yawn … Returned husband after 5 years was the ultimate nail in the coffin / writers running out of ideas … Building a treehouse for a 16yo. Really? Sooo lame
